What We Do:
Act Out Science uses theater arts as a tool to make science come to life! Through song, puppetry, drama, story, and more, we create space for enthusiastic engagement in a variety of scientific concepts. We cater to students of all ages, and have the following programs to offer:
Week-long science theater camps:
- “Earth Adventures: Exploring and Performing” Our first session was a blast at the Marsh Youth Theatre in June, 2011
- ”H20 Show!: The Wild and Wet Journey from Icecap to Ocean”
- “Mix Up Science: Potions, Puppetry, and other Functional Fun”
2.5 hour science theatre workshops (adaptable for various ages):
- “Deep in the Garden: The Secret World of Insects and Other Garden Critters”
- “Motion in the Ocean: Every Grain of Sand has a Story”
- “Geology in Action: Abrupt Eruptions and Quavering Quakes”
- “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rot: The Science of Doing Our Part!”
The above programming can be adapted for diverse audiences aged 5 to adult — in classrooms, after-school programs, community centers, and theatre spaces.
